Your words stay yours.

Effective 12 October 2026.

This page explains what Larry stores about you, why, and how to remove it. If anything here is unclear, email us and we'll clarify it directly rather than pointing you back at this page.

What we store

  • Your email address, so you can sign in and reach your saved words on another device.
  • The words and phrases you choose to save, along with the show, episode, and line they came from.
  • Usage counters (things like how many words you've saved or reviewed), so review timing and daily limits work correctly.
  • If you use the Diary: the entries you write and their corrections, plus a record of the credits each check used.

This data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, in their Asia-Pacific region.

Subtitle text

The Thai and translated subtitle lines Larry shows you are processed only to display the overlay in your browser while you watch. We do not store subtitle or video content on our servers.

Email delivery

Sign-in codes and any account emails are sent through Resend, our transactional email provider. Resend sees the email address and message content needed to deliver that mail; it does not receive your saved words.

Diary corrections

When you press Check on a Diary entry, the text of that entry is sent to OpenAI to produce the correction. We ask OpenAI not to store it, and nothing else about you (no email, no saved words) is sent with it. Diary entries are deleted with your account.

Payments

Paid plans and credit packs are sold by Paddle as merchant of record. Your card or other payment details go directly to Paddle and never pass through Larry's own servers. Paddle's own privacy notice covers what it collects to take the payment.

Paddle tells us only what we need to run your plan: a Paddle customer and subscription ID, your plan and its status, and the date the current period ends; for each credit pack, the transaction ID and how many credits it bought. We never receive your card details.

Analytics

On this website (fluentlarry.com) we count page views and clicks on the sign-up buttons with PostHog. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, so each page you open counts as a new, anonymous visit that is not linked to you or to your account. Like any website, PostHog receives your IP address with each request, which it uses to estimate your country.

In the Larry app and the Chrome extension we use PostHog to understand how Larry is used once you have signed in and accepted the Terms: how many people use it each day, which features they use (for example reviews, scrambles, the Diary, exports), whether the app is installed to your home screen, and summary counts from each viewing session (how long, how many words looked up and saved). Signed-out visitors to the app are not tracked. You can turn analytics off at any time from your profile in the Larry app, and it stays off on every device.

Events are tied to an internal user ID, never your email address. They never include the Thai you type or save, subtitle text, or the shows and episodes you watch. The app sets no analytics cookies and stores no analytics data in your browser. Extension events go through our own server, which removes anything not on a fixed list before passing them to PostHog. As on the website, PostHog receives your IP address with these events and uses it to estimate your country.

What we never do

  • We never sell your data to anyone, for any reason.
  • We never send your email, your Thai, or what you watch to analytics.
  • We never store or re-share the video or subtitle files from Netflix.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your profile in the Larry app, or by emailing hello@fluentlarry.com. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your saved words, diary entries, review history, and account are all removed. Analytics events tied to your user ID are deleted when you delete your account. If you have a live subscription, cancel it first; the app asks you to. Records of credit packs you bought (the Paddle transaction ID, the credits it bought, and any refund of it) are kept after deletion as financial records. Paddle also keeps its own customer and transaction records as the merchant of record.

Netflix

Larry is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Netflix. It reads the subtitles already available inside your own Netflix session; it does not provide or stream Netflix content itself.
